The planning of the own sales success is important for all those sales persons who work in the environment of the project- and solution selling, where beside situational improvisation, strategic procedures including the sales team members are very important.

In practice this requirement/concern is most often doomed to failure due to the fact that the typical, creative and sociable sales person has a temperament-based aversion to the creation of sales plans. This aversion is increased by lacking standards and processes or by extra-long and complicated plan templates. Furthermore, discouraging are also the often neglected or inaccurately carried out "plan reviews", a fact which supports the sales person's point of view that he creates his plans merely for his superiors and does not benefit himself.
