In the initial phases of a technology project, interviews and brainstorming sessions are typically done to gather requirements. A mind mapping tool is a great way to visually capture, organize and analyze those requirements as well as elaborate on them. However, once captured, these tools don’t offer a way to track those requirements through the software development lifecycle.

Using MindManager® Pro 8 from Mindjet®, Business Analysts, Product Managers and any other stakeholders can visually map out requirements. MindManager will not only improve your teams productivity, it will improve requirements quality and communication. Free form capture your ideas or start with a pre-defined MindManager template(s) provided by QAVantage.

Elaborate and Collaborate
Once captured, easily collaborate with team members to elaborate on your requirements. Add text comments, icons, include screenshots, add review notes and more. The many different visual aids allow you to approach your requirements using many methods (Use Case Based, Functional, Process Flow Based, etc.). You can download our requirements document templates and examples as a quick start reference. |
Analyze
Not only can you capture requirements and organize them visually, with just a few clicks you can view them in many different formats making refining and analyzing them easier. See the big picture and details at the same time. Other benefits of visualization include dependency management. Dependencies can be easily defined and clearly understood by simply drawing a dotted line between requirements. |

Alternatively, import your existing requirements from Microsoft Word into MindManager. You can visually analyze and reorganize the information, quickly identify gaps, visualize dependencies and prepare them for export to many different applications, including RTIME.

Communicate
MindManager let’s you output your requirements to many different formats supporting the various ways in which you will likely need to communicate and use the requirement information you’ve captured. Quickly prepare a presentation for development, produce a MRD (market requirement document for management) or export requirements to RTIME for further analysis, planning and on-going tracking and management.

Track, Manage and Deliver

Once completed, simply click the Add-In button on the MindManager® menu (available after installing the RTIME add-in) and the wizard utility walks you through the import process. Augment the Mindmap data appropriately with data from the RTIME database such as who the owner is and who entered the requirement. You can also selectively choose which topics you wish to import into RTIME allowing you to use the Mind Map to define a broader scope of information. Once the wizard runs, all your requirements will be loaded directly into the RTIME database. From there you can plan, track and trace your requirements through the development lifecycle. Add estimates, set and change status, perform prioritization and trade-off analysis, recieve e-mail alerts when changes occur, produce design documents, map tasks for development and manage project plans, map test cases for QA, generate reports and so much more.
